Add depth of field, bloom, and grain

The Raylight design panel with a glowing Share button.

Effects are the seasoning, not the meal. These three give you the most polish for the least effort.

The big three

  • Depth of field blurs everything that is not at your focus depth, just like a fast lens. It separates your subject and quietly hides flat or busy areas. Rack focus mid shot to move the viewer's attention from one layer to another.
  • Bloom lets bright areas glow softly into their surroundings. A small amount makes highlights feel like real light instead of flat white. Heavy bloom turns artificial fast.
  • Grain adds texture and stops large flat colors from looking dead and digital. The quickest way to make a clean render feel filmed.

Where they live

Select the scene itself, or its bottom layer, and the Design tab shows every scene-wide effect: depth of field, bloom, vignette, motion blur, color split, film grain, ghost, color grade, and edge fade.
